Hendrik Schönfelder Appointed as President for Evonik Middle East and Africa
Hendrik Schönfelder has recently been appointed as President -Middle East & Africa (MEA) of Evonik, one of the world leaders in specialty chemicals. This news follows the merger of the former regions Sub-Sahara Africa and the Middle East & North Africa into one regional platform.
After obtaining his doctorate in chemical engineering from Technical University Hamburg, Hendrik Schönfelder began his professional career with BASF in 1995. He occupied various roles covering R&D, investment projects, Regional Sales and Global Business Management for the polyolefins business of BASF and its succession companies. In 2013, Schönfelder joined Evonik in Germany.
“I have worked on several projects in my career that covered the Middle East and Africa and developed a special affinity for the region,” said Schönfelder. “MEA is definitely a region that will witness substantial growth in the future and Evonik today has a platform that can support the industries to meet the demands that such growth creates” Schönfelder added.
